Cambridge Recreation Complex & Library
Cambridge, Ontario
The Cambridge Recreation Complex and Library will be the green and social nucleus of a developing community at the city’s southeast edge. The project allows an increasingly diverse community to grow around the values of inclusive and healthy activity, with spaces that encourage social interaction and a design focused on creating strong connections between the project’s pavilion-like building and its accompanying 4-hectare park. This park was conceived as a landscape that renews the land and takes inspiration from the powerful natural systems and forests that surround the site — the dynamic flow of the adjacent Moffat Creek, its connection to the Grand River, and the glacial legacy of the broader Paris Galt Moraine region.
