"I strive to create places with a unique character deeply rooted in its context"

Robert has led a variety of key public projects at MJMA over the past twenty-five years, helping to define the role of community-based buildings in Canada. He is a frequent lecturer at Athletic Business, Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO), and Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) conferences, with the design comfort and flexibility to navigate between the sports hall and the halls of academia. Within this breadth of experience, Rob's intuitive people skills and common-sense approach brings strong leadership and methodical management skills to all projects. Robert strongly advocates for green building principles on every project. He authored the article, ‘Sustainable Design of Recreation Facilities’ for the Sustainable Architecture and Building Magazine publication, which details best practices for energy and resource conservation and sharing in this challenging building typology. Under his leadership, MJMA recreation projects have paved the way for truly sustainable community building; with the Innisfil Recreation Complex being one of the first LEED certified aquatic sports complexes in Canada.

Robert graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1987 with a Bachelor of Architecture. He joined MJMA in 1992, and became a partner in 2009.
