Jason is an architect who enjoys combining his technical expertise with critical and creative thinking to get the job done. He is motivated by MJMA’s clients and their ambitions to build communities that are healthier and more connected. He has been a core member of our team that has had a continuing relationship with the Greater Toronto YMCA for over a decade, which has included a number of complex projects that deftly navigate constrained urban sites while being integrated into mixed-use developments. Among these is Cooper Koo Family Cherry Street YMCA, which was designed as part of the Athletes Village for the 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games, afterwards becoming a well-loved multi-use facility for a growing neighbourhood in downtown Toronto. Other highlights of his portfolio include the Branksome Hall Athletics and Wellness Centre and the Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre and Edmonton Elks’ Fieldhouse, the latter a 220,000-sf complex with a dynamic landmark civic presence that accommodates both a professional football team and everyday public use.
A native of Toronto, Jason obtained a Master of Architecture from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2007. He grew to love the city of Detroit, being inspired by its burgeoning rejuvenation and how its identity is being fashioned with a sense of self-reliance and a vibrant, hands-on craft and arts community. He worked in Detroit, Alaska, Hong Kong, and Toronto before joining MJMA in 2009.
