Sophie Fan

Sophie is dedicated to carrying a project’s vision through the architectural process, using rigorous problem-solving to develop solutions that respond to, and surpass, each client’s needs and ambitions. She is highly conscious of architecture’s potential to leave a positive legacy for future generations and has a special interest in adaptive reuse, which she sees as offering rich opportunities for both sustainable design and expression rooted in historical and cultural context. Sophie obtained a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Architecture from the University of Toronto. Before rejoining MJMA in 2023, she worked in studios in Shanghai, New York, and Toronto, and had previously interned with the studio before her graduate studies.
