Melanie Taylor
Associate, Communications & Engagement Specialist
Since joining MJMA in 2019, Melanie has played an essential role in shaping the studio’s communications and engagement practices, bringing strong organizational skills, and a thoughtful, people-centred approach to every project.
At the pursuit stage and throughout the design process, Melanie helps uncover the unique stories, identities, and aspirations of the communities MJMA’s work serves. As a core member of the marketing and communications team, she supports the development of strategic pursuits, project narratives, and studio-wide communications with a thoughtful, collaborative, and design-minded approach.
Through her public engagement work, Melanie undertakes research into the cultural and physical contexts that shape each project, develops project-specific outreach strategies, and works closely with clients, stakeholders, and consultants to support meaningful and accessible consultation. She collaborates with design teams to help ensure user-driven outcomes that instill a sense of community pride and investment long after a project’s completion.
Melanie is also a founder of MJMA’s IDEA Group, which advances inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility within the studio and its work. She holds an interdisciplinary degree from Western University, combining visual arts with studies at the School for Advanced Studies in the Arts and Humanities.
