South Bowmanville Recreation Centre
Bowmanville, Ontario
The South Bowmanville Recreation Centre creates a dynamic multisport athletics and recreation destination that offers opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities. The design renovates and expands an existing indoor soccer facility, converting it into a fieldhouse with FIBA-sized courts, support spaces, and multipurpose community rooms. The project also places a new FIFA-sized sport dome on the site, while a future second phase will add an aquatic centre. The new surrounding park is crucial to the profound transformation of the site. What was once a simple open lawn with limited ecological or programmatic value has been reimagined as a layered, resilient landscape rich in biodiversity and community life.
