Kyung-Sun Hur

Senior Associate | OAA LEED GA

Kyung is a gifted coordinator, appreciated by colleagues and clients alike for his deep technical know-how and ease at collaboration. His focus on sustainable design and skills as a Project Architect have been instrumental to the success of projects like the Zancor Centre, the first multiuse recreational facility to achieve the Canada Green Building Council’s Zero Carbon Building Design certification. The building provides light-filled program and social spaces that are linked to a stunning surrounding landscape setting while it also employs a host of sustainability measures, such as the use of a geothermal field. Other highlights of Kyung’s portfolio include the University of Guelph Gryphons Athletic Centre and the Centennial College Ashtonbee Campus Library and Student Hub. These projects and others demonstrate his expertise in materials and detailing as well as his sensibility for spaces that bring comfort and delight. Kyung’s proudest moments as an architect are when he enjoys MJMA-designed facilities with his family.

Kyung received his Bachelor of Architecture from Seoul National University of Technology. He worked in South Korea, primarily on residential architecture, and participated in competitions with his own studio. After travelling in Europe, China, Japan, and Canada, he completed a Master in Architecture at McGill University in 2007 and joined MJMA the same year.
