OAA
To each project, Kiefer brings an acute design sense combined with expertise and an enthusiasm for on-going research in building science. Areas of special interest to him include sustainability measures, acoustics and lighting, and digital design. With a focus on enhancing the project’s specific ecological and community contexts, as well as delivering solutions that maximize functionality and durability, he has contributed to many of MJMA’s most technically forward-looking buildings, some of which feature mass timber structures, including the Academic Wood Tower at the University of Toronto. Keifer has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary and a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from the SAIT Polytechnic in Calgary. Before joining MJMA in 2020, he obtained a Master of Architecture from the University of Toronto, which included stints in Switzerland and Germany investigating topics such as robotic fabrication.
