A renovation and extension of the existing Gryphons Alumni Stadium, the Football Pavilion provides office spaces and state-of-the art facilities that enhance the national reputation of the University’s football program. A comprehensive graphics program is intimately integrated with the Pavilion’s architecture and is essential to the experience of players, staff, and visitors alike. Gryphon red appears throughout. It marks key routes, including the team’s procession from the new building’s back stairs, classroom corridor, and locker room to the weights, fitness, and therapy rooms in the existing renovated facility.
The experiential design was devised to amp up the energy of the spaces, the players, and their supporters. It signals to visiting teams they are on Gryphon territory and galvanizes possible recruits touring the facility.
In the dressing room, the side walls of the bays have magnetic back-painted glass that can be used as a teaching tool and to outline game plays. Further complementing the identity of Gryphons football, the Corian lockers display personalized name plates indicating each player’s high school and hometown.
The player roster modeled for featured images, giving the team a sense of ownership of their new home base and inspiring recruits.
Rendered in Gryphon red and featuring super-sized half-tone graphics, the patterns and motifs on the walls, ceilings, and railings strengthen team identity while unifying the Pavilion with a bold and distinctive language.
