East Hants Aquatic Centre

The East Hants Aquatic Centre is located in the central mainland of Nova Scotia in an area known as "the Corridor", comprising a half-dozen towns with 22,500 people spread across nearly 1,800 square-kilometers. Community leaders approached MJMA to design a new central facility for the municipality that would be function-driven yet attractive, durable, energy-efficient, and large enough to meet current and future aquatic and community programming needs.
The result has quickly become a popular amenity and gathering place. The building's simple and economical structure minimized the complexity of construction and created a bold identity. The design team and client were also all committed to using local resources wherever possible, making the Aquatic Centre representative of its place and a sustainable, long-lasting facility for the community.
