Ted has led a broad range of community recreation, residential, and higher education projects – all of which share a consistence high recognition for design excellence and user satisfaction. His contribution of bold and legible design solutions to the field has helped to initiate a new generation of community focused architecture that heightens the user experience by engaging the site and neighborhood context, activating the pedestrian realm, and prioritizing sustainable development. He leads the campus/urban design, conceptual approach and interior resolution for many MJMA projects, integrating parkland, buildings, and interiors to form a connected experience that deftly balances summer and winter programs. Ted brings a mature project delivery pragmatism and warm affability. Working locally and in the U.S., Ted leads work throughout Western Canada and internationally. A frequent lecturer, conference and academic participant, Ted is the firm’s library specialist and active member with the Ontario Library Association.
Raised in Vancouver and educated in Calgary, Ted provides distinctive West Coast design and environmental thoughtfulness to the firm's architectural discourse. Upon graduating Ted received the Henry Adams AIA Gold Medal for Excellence in the Study of Architecture. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia, a Masters of Architecture from the University of Calgary, a Part III Certification from the University College London's Bartlett School of Architecture UK, and is a registered LEED accredited professional. Ted joined MJMA in 1996, becoming a partner in 2009.
