Kris Vassilev

"A creative and sensitive approach to the existing context, as well as the expression of certain ideas through the symbolic language of architecture, have been fundamental principles in my design work."

Kris joined MJMA’s architectural design team in 2018 with an already-extensive reservoir of professional experience, including five years as a senior architect at Diamond Schmitt Architects in Toronto, where he worked on the design, documentation, management, and execution of large-scale campus buildings, libraries, and residential developments around the world, including projects that have earned LEED Gold certification and an OAA Design Excellence Award. This followed his time acting as a senior design architect at NORR Architects and, prior to that, obtaining an extensive international education that comprises a Bachelor and Master of Architecture from the University of Architecture and Building Engineering in Sofia, Bulgaria, and a PhD in Architecture from the Moscow Architectural Institute. Kris also volunteers his time as an OAA Internship Mentor.
