Intermediate & Senior Environmental Graphic Designer

MJMA is seeking both an Intermediate & Senior or Director-Level ‘Environmental Graphic Designer’ to join our growing 70-person interdisciplinary Toronto studio. Our integrated design studio incorporates Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Environmental Graphic Design, and Public Engagement – working together to design clear, bold, and inclusive public spaces that strengthen communities and the environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be working closely and collaboratively with the leadership teams to develop brand strategies and guidelines for both external and internal; interior and exterior signage and wayfinding packages; support place-making and visual identity strategies through environmental graphics; support colour and material strategies; develop community engagement programs; and strengthen accessibility and inclusivity.

For the senior-level position, you must have experience leading projects and teams; providing creative vision; model, sketch, and develop studies for concept options; managing schedules and deliverables; mentoring staff; presenting to clients; coordinating with printers, fabricators and installers; leading drawing sets and details; and reviewing installation on site.
 
QUALIFICATIONS & KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • A related degree / diploma and professional membership of RGD, GDC, SEGD, OAA or other design related organization.
  • ​Advanced user in Adobe Graphic Programs with literacy in SketchUp and CAD or Revit an asset.
  • Familiarity with AODA, Accessibility, and Building Code standards and guidelines related to signage in the built environment.
  • Both familiarity with and leading the latest trends and innovations in fabrication processses, materials, pictograms, and accesibile and inclusive thinking.
You must demonstrate a passion for design excellence and innovation, and be a strong communicator and strategic thinker. You must be highly motivated, organized, assertive, and willing to engage in the open and collaborative environment of the office with a generosity of spirit.
